Insert reader here!
Where does the time go?
I think I have the time to get all these things done and it all slips through my fingers. It’s that time of the year, when we ask our customers to sit in the window, reading their book, as part of our decorations for the month of December. Call in and reserve your slot! This year we’re asking readers to consider using their reading time as a way to raise money and awareness for the Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County. Come by the store and ask for details.

Finished reading American Savior by Roland Merullo
I've seemed to have lost my reading stride this year. I'm not sure what caused it but reading has been such a challenge since earlier this year. I got through a nice collection of books for the summer but I'm still slogging along with my reading.
I finally finished reading American Savior and thoroughly enjoyed it. In case you don't know, it's the story of Jesus coming back to earth to run for president of the United States. Let me tell you it was a refreshing break from the insane political juggernaut we've had to endure for nearly TWO YEARS! (Should we talk about beating a dead horse here?!)
The novel does a great treatment about how American politics works, since Jesus is neither Republican or Democrats, and how both of major parties run their races. No surprises, of course, but some good observations on the part of the narrator (a tv reporter) and subsequently on the part of the author.
I was especially pleased with the fresh face put on the character of Jesus. Not the pious platitudes we've come to expect from popular culture. This is the kind of Jesus most folks could relate to, regardless of beliefs/nonbeliefs!
Pick it up, maybe you need an escape from the droning political machines.
